My first painting using acrylic. I fell in love with the medium because I could control the look of the brush strokes so easily and the paint dried so quickly. Where the waves of the ocean and the shore meet, there is a story of power and resilience that inspires me.
As a youth, growing up in the Red River Valley of West Central Minnesota, Patrick loved to be outside in nature and he loved to draw. Noting that his grandson had natural artistic talent, Patrick’s grandfather encouraged his young grandson’s interest in illustration and graphic design by ordering a correspondence drawing class that taught Patrick to draw the iconic comic strip characters of the day such as Dick Tracy, Beetle Bailey, Mary Worth, and Judge Parker. In addition, the work of illustrators, Charles Shultz, Walt Disney, and Roy Lichtenstein also inspired the young artist to develop his own natural ability to tell stories through art. I like the painting; I like the sort of abyss that seems to present at the end of the blue and calm waters. Agree that the acrylic dries faster, but the oil colours seem to be so more vivid and intense, but I do to prefer to paint in acrylic to. Good work.
