Description
Living next to a lake gives me the amazing opportunity to observe many species of wetland birds. None, however, are as elusive and captivating for me as the Great Blue Heron. As soon as this enormous creature senses he is being observed, he flees to another area of the lake where he can go about his business without interruption. I had the rare opportunity to study him briefly and then photograph his immediate flight as soon as he discovered my camera. It was a once in a lifetime photograph that inspired my first painting of 2020.
