Description

In the early spring in Edenton, NC, brilliantly colored orange tulips emerge in the Historic Cupola House Garden. Their color ranges from a soft apricot to a bright yellow: each flower with its own distinctive shape and coloration. The "Tulip King" was inspired by a tall and majestic cluster of flowers that rose above the other tulips in the spectacular historic garden. I chose to paint them on a large scale 40" x 48" canvas to accentuate their stately splendor.
